RIVER TALES

River Tales is a project sponsored by Friends of the Locust Fork River and the Blount County Memorial Museum.

We are gathering tales about life on the Locust Fork River and how it has shaped and continues to shape our heritage in Blount County.

We hope to better understand just how fundamental to life in Blount County the Locust Fork has been, and in just what ways - through the many stories our people tell. Baptisms, fish tales, crossing a ford, hauling corn to a mill:  these stories are rich and valuable.

We hope to gather lots of many kinds of stories, and will carefully preserve them for others to enjoy and learn from in the future.

Training includes techniques on interviewing storytellers. Tips and practice on recording the stories using phones or tablets, how and where to save the audio files, where to find and download the 3 forms required for each interview, how to annotate and write up the recordings, how/where to upload photos and interview annotations of the subject and their surroundings.
