Easy Canoe or Kayak Trip
April 28 @ 9:00 am – 3:00 pm
FLFR and the Sierra Club invites you to one of our favorite events of the year! This canoe and kayaking trip is easy enough for beginners, but beautiful enough everyone will want to come. On the way, keep an eye out for bald eagles, blue herons, ospreys, gar fish, snakes, turtles, and many more river loving creatures. If we’re lucky, the Cahaba Lilies might even be in bloom! This is a six hour trip, including a stop for lunch and swimming, so it is recommended that you have a waterproof bag with your lunch, drinking water, sunscreen, a change of clothes, and a camera. There will be boats and life jackets available to borrow, but if you do have your own please bring them so all interested will be able to come. After the trip, participants are invited to a potluck dinner in a nearby home. Organized by FLFR and Sierra Club, leaders are expert canoers Shane and Vicky Wilson. We will meet at the Blount County Hwy 13 bridge off AL 160.
